First of all, we’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year from all of us here at Bardou HQ. Thank you for your continued support throughout 2016 and we can’t wait to show you what we have planned for this year!

Now, if like us you may have overindulged this festive season, then January is the perfect time to start again. Consider it a clean state where you make the rules.

Here on the Bardou Blog we’re sharing with you some of our tips that we’re using to kickstart our January. Will you be joining us?

1. Begin each morning with lemon, apple cider vinegar and manuka honey in a cup of hot water.
Yep, sounds gross we know, but we promise it doesn’t taste it! It is by far the best way to start the day, giving your metabolism and digestion an almighty boost.

2. Keep hydrated
Make sure you’re drinking at least two litres of water a day to help flush out toxins that cause bloat.

3. Cut out sugar
Sugar is toxic and addictive. It has no nutritional value whatsoever and increases the risk of weight gain as well as serious illnesses including heart disease and diabetes. Cut it out!

3. Abstain from alcohol
You knew we were going to say this! But let’s face it, we might have consumed enough in December to make up for our January drought… You’ll soon see the results and feel so much better for it, so who can argue with that? Plus your skin will love you for it!

4. Have a low sodium diet
Stay away from ready meals which can contain a high level of sodium – reducing your sodium intake will allow your body to get rid of excess water and reduce that bloat.

5. Get your 5 a day
We all know it will keep the doctor away so why do we never listen? Fill yourself to the brim with fruit and vegetables which contain a whole load of vitamins and goodness that will boost your health and immune system.

6. Take the stairs whenever you can
We’re all guilty of being a bit lazy from time to time, but not in January. See those stairs next to the escalator? Take them, your booty will thank you!

7. Have a digital detox
Sometimes, we just need to step away from our phones. Spend some time offline relaxing. Whether that’s reading a good book, grabbing a coffee with a friend, watching TV or going for a run – good for the mind, body and soul.

8. Get some ZZZ’s
Oh how we love our bed! Aim to get a good eight hours of sleep per night as that’s when your body recovers and regenerates making you set for the next day. And remember, put away your phone at least 30 minutes before you plan on getting some shut-eye!

9. Finally, January doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom – treat yourself. January sales are the perfect excuse to go shopping because let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good bargain?! Speaking of, have you heard there’s up to 30% off selected items here at BARDOU? Hint, hint…
